"Shahr -vand" is a visualization to explore how the suffixes of city names are spread out throught different parts of the region. Nothing scientific. Just for fun!

Inspiration and Credits

This is an adaptation of Moritz Stefaner's -ach, -ingen, -zell project for Iranian cities. The "-ach, -ingen, -zell"" is a visual exploration of the spatial patterns in the endings of German town and village names: http://truth-and-beauty.net/experiments/ach-ingen-zell

I heard about the -ach, -ingen, -zell project in one of the espisods of the Data Stories podcast and got interested. Highly recommend the podcast if you are into data visualization!
